How to highlight and save text from any webpage in Chrome
Bookmarks keep the URL. They rarely keep the sentence you actually needed.
GetReadVault is a Chrome extension for that gap: select text on a webpage, save a highlight, and optionally add a note or tag. The excerpt stays on this device until you choose Pro cloud sync.
The workflow
1. Install GetReadVault from the Chrome Web Store. 2. Open an article, doc page, or long post. 3. Select the sentence or paragraph that matters. 4. Save a highlight from the toolbar or the context menu. 5. Open the sidebar Library when you want the excerpt again.
You do not need an account to start. Local capture is free.
When this is enough
- You read technical docs and want the API warning, not the whole guide.
- You collect quotes for writing and need the original wording.
- You study in the browser and want passages grouped by tag.
What this is not
GetReadVault does not turn the web into a second Notion. It does not highlight PDFs. It does not summarize the page with AI. It saves the text you pointed at.
If you later need the same library on another computer, Pro adds cloud sync. Until then, the useful part of the page is already on this machine.
