GetReadVault Terms of Service
Author: juwencheng Effective date: 2026-08-01 Last updated: 2026-09-11
Note: These Terms are for the GetReadVault website, Chrome / Edge extension store listings, and user support. They are not legal advice. You may have additional rights under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your location.
1. Acceptance of terms
Welcome to GetReadVault. GetReadVault provides webpage highlighting, notes, tags, in-extension review, and—under a Pro subscription—multi-device / cross-browser cloud sync and related services.
By installing, accessing, or using the GetReadVault browser extension, web service, or related features, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use GetReadVault.
2. Service description
GetReadVault features may include:
- saving highlights on webpages;
- adding notes, comments, tags, and one-level nested excerpts;
- managing content in the extension sidebar (Overview / Page / Library / Tags) or the in-extension library;
- local offline storage;
- signing in with an email code, password, or Google / Apple;
- multi-device and cross-browser cloud sync with a Pro subscription;
- optional co-reading on one page (Pro hosts the room; invitees do not need Pro);
- optional bring-your-own-key (BYOK) AI tools (experimental);
- feedback, support, and product updates.
Specific features depend on the released version, plan description, and in-app presentation. Some features may be in beta, gradual rollout, or future release.
3. Accounts and security
You may choose to use local features without signing in, or sign in through supported login methods.
You agree to:
- provide true, accurate, and up-to-date information;
- protect access to your device, browser, and account;
- not share credentials or access in a way that may cause account abuse;
- contact us promptly if you discover unauthorized access or a security risk.
GetReadVault is not responsible beyond what applicable law requires for losses caused by your failure to protect your device, browser, or account.
4. User content
"User content" means content you save, enter, upload, or sync through GetReadVault, such as highlight text, notes, comments, tags, page titles, page URLs, co-reading room highlights and comments, display names, reading-time records, BYOK AI prompts and conversations, and related metadata.
GetReadVault does not automatically scrape entire page HTML or restricted content on your behalf. Highlights, notes, tags, and co-reading content come from snippets you actively save or send. If you are signed in with Pro, the extension also records URL, title, and visible-tab duration for reading stats (see the Privacy Policy).
You retain your rights to user content. You grant GetReadVault a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, revocable license to:
- provide, maintain, and sync your content;
- display content across your devices and account;
- back up data, prevent data loss, and troubleshoot issues;
- delete or migrate content based on your actions;
- improve service stability and compatibility.
You represent that you have the right to save and process the relevant content. You are responsible for the legality of the content you save and how you use it, and you may not use GetReadVault to infringe intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of others.
5. Prohibited conduct
You may not use GetReadVault to:
- violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right;
- scrape, copy, distribute, or resell third-party content at scale;
- upload, save, or share unlawful, infringing, malicious, fraudulent, harassing, or hateful content;
- bypass, break, or interfere with GetReadVault security, permissions, subscription, or sync mechanisms;
- bypass third-party paywalls, login requirements, permission restrictions, or other access controls;
- use automated scripts, crawlers, or bots to abuse the service;
- reverse engineer, copy, modify, or create unauthorized derivative services except where allowed by law;
- access another user's account or data without authorization;
- send spam, malicious links, or harmful code through GetReadVault.
If we believe you violated these Terms, we may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access and, when necessary, remove unlawful or abusive content.
6. Free features and paid subscriptions
GetReadVault offers Free and Pro plans.
- Free: includes local highlights, notes, tags, offline storage, and review in the extension library.
- Pro: adds multi-device and cross-browser cloud sync to the Free features. Hosting a co-reading room requires Pro, but it is not a separately sold Team plan.
Specific benefits are described on the pricing page, subscription page, or in-app screens. We may add, adjust, or remove features, but we will try to avoid material adverse impact on paid users.
7. Billing, renewal, and taxes
If you purchase a paid subscription:
- the subscription renews automatically according to your selected cycle unless canceled before the next billing period;
- prices may vary by region, taxes, platform fees, exchange rates, or promotions;
- taxes, fees, or payment platform charges may apply;
- payment is processed by a third-party payment provider (such as Stripe, PayPal, or WeChat Pay), whose terms and privacy policy also apply;
- paid benefits usually become active after successful payment.
We may change subscription prices. For existing subscribers, price changes usually take effect at the next renewal cycle, and we will try to provide advance notice.
8. Free trials
GetReadVault may offer free trials. Trial duration, included benefits, and whether a payment method is required are shown on the subscription page.
If a trial requires a payment method, it may convert into a paid subscription when the trial ends. You can cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged.
9. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel a subscription through the account portal, payment platform, or support email. After cancellation, paid benefits usually remain available until the end of the current billing period.
Unless required otherwise by law or payment platform rules, suggested refund rules are:
- Monthly subscription: refund requests may be accepted within 7 days of purchase, usually once per account;
- Yearly subscription: refund requests may be accepted within 14 days of purchase;
- requests involving abuse, fraud, Terms violations, or requests outside the refund window may be declined;
- subscriptions purchased through Apple, Google, Microsoft, or other platforms may be subject to that platform's refund process.
Before launch, publish the final refund rules on the subscription page and help center.
10. Data and privacy
We process personal information and user content according to the Privacy Policy. By using GetReadVault, you agree that we may process necessary data as described in the Privacy Policy.
When you are not signed in, some content may exist only in your local browser. Clearing browser data, uninstalling the extension, or changing devices may cause local data loss. Cloud sync can reduce cross-device and local-loss risk, but may require a Pro subscription.
11. Third-party services
GetReadVault may integrate with or depend on third-party services, including:
- browser extension stores;
- Google or Apple login;
- payment platforms (Stripe, PayPal, WeChat Pay);
- cloud hosting and database services;
- email (Amazon SES);
- the AI host you configure if you use BYOK AI;
- third-party websites visited by users.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. GetReadVault does not control third-party website content, availability, or data practices.
12. Intellectual property
GetReadVault software, interfaces, designs, trademarks, copy, documents, icons, and related technologies are owned by GetReadVault or its licensors. Except as expressly allowed by these Terms, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent, or create derivative works.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of your user content.
13. Service changes and termination
We may update, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service for product improvement, security, compliance, or business reasons.
You may stop using GetReadVault at any time and request account or cloud data deletion. We may also restrict or terminate your service if:
- you violate these Terms;
- you violate law or third-party rights;
- security risks, abuse, fraud, or abnormal activity are detected;
- subscription payment fails or refund abuse occurs;
- the service is discontinued or a platform requires removal.
14. Disclaimers
GetReadVault is provided "as is" and "as available." We work to keep the service stable, secure, and accurate, but we do not guarantee that:
- the service will always be uninterrupted, timely, error-free, or available;
- every webpage can be highlighted or restored perfectly;
- third-party websites, browser updates, or page CSP rules will not affect functionality;
- third-party content saved by users will remain accessible forever.
You are responsible for judging the legality and accuracy of the content you save, use, and cite.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GetReadVault is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, including lost profits, business interruption, data loss, reputational harm, or third-party claims.
Where liability cannot be fully excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid to GetReadVault in the 12 months before the dispute arose. If you paid no fees, liability is limited to the minimum amount permitted by applicable law.
16. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and protect GetReadVault and its affiliates from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms, unlawful use of the service, infringement of third-party rights, or improper content.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will provide notice through the website, in-app messages, email, store listing notes, or other reasonable methods. Continued use of GetReadVault means you accept the updated Terms.
18. Governing law and dispute resolution
GetReadVault is currently operated as an individual / project offering and does not yet have a separate corporate entity.
If a dispute arises from the service, the parties should first attempt to resolve it amicably by emailing support@getreadvault.com.
Governing law and a formal dispute-resolution process will be updated in these Terms once an operating entity is established, with reasonable notice. Until then, nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your location.
